John Thomas "Jocky" Wilson, born on 22nd March 1950, at Craigtown Maternity Hospital, St. Andrews, Scotland, UK was a professional darts player. After turning pro during 1979, Jocky soon rose to the top of the game, winning the World Professional Darts Championship in 1982 then again during 1989. Wilson competed in all major darts tournaments of the era, winning the British Professional Championship a record 4 times: 1981, 1983, 1986 & 1988. A contemporary and rival of Eric Bristow, Bob Anderson, Bobby George, Keith Deller, Cliff Lazarenko, Dave Whitcombe, Mike Gregory & John Lowe, Jocky's ungainly appearance and rough-hewn lifestyle belied his prowess in the sport. However, Wilson was dogged by health problems, suddenly retiring from the game in December 1995 then withdrawing from public life, rarely being seen in public or giving interviews before his death during March 2012.
